The College Application Reality

The process is overwhelming. The stakes feel high.

Students aren’t just writing a few essays. They’re navigating a series of interconnected decisions, each with the potential to strengthen or weaken their application and shape how admissions officers understand who they are.

Too many moving parts

College applications are a complex project with dozens of interconnected decisions. The challenge isn’t simply completing everything on time. It’s staying organized across deadlines, essays, recommendations, and decisions so each element strengthens the overall application.

Generic advice isn’t enough

Selective colleges expect clarity, depth, and authenticity. Admissions readers spend only a few minutes on each application, so it needs to make a strong impression quickly. What stands out isn’t polished language or familiar “I struggled and I learned” stories. It’s a thoughtful, specific perspective that shows who you are and what you would uniquely contribute.

Protect what you’ve worked so hard to build

A rushed personal statement, a mismatched school list, or a missed deadline can undercut years of otherwise strong work. With record levels of competition, having an experienced second set of eyes on every decision point removes that risk before it becomes a regret.

The playing field is not level

Many students admitted to highly selective schools work with a private admissions coach. There’s no reason to panic, but it’s important to understand the level of competition. Knowing how to position an application, choose the right stories, and present them effectively can make a meaningful difference.

How We Work

A clear, structured process.

01

Finding the Right Fit

We begin by getting to know your student—their interests, goals, and what they genuinely want from a college experience. Some families come to us as early as freshman year. Others begin during the summer after junior year when applications become the primary focus. Whether your student is building a college list or already has one, we make sure every school is a thoughtful choice and a place they would genuinely be excited to attend.

02

Structure the Narrative

Once we understand your student’s strengths and experiences, we build a strategy for presenting them. Together we decide which essay prompts to answer, which experiences to highlight, and how each essay supports the overall application. Before writing begins, every essay has a clear purpose and direction.

03

Craft the Application

Now the writing begins. Peter provides detailed editorial feedback throughout every draft, helping strengthen clarity, voice, and authenticity. Some essays come together quickly. Others require more revision. We continue refining until every piece works together to tell one consistent story.

04

Submit with Confidence

Before anything is submitted, we carefully review every part of the application—not just the essays. We make sure every component supports the same overall narrative and nothing has been overlooked. By submission day, every decision has been made deliberately, leaving students feeling confident rather than rushed.

    7. How do you support essay writing?

With a background in journalism, Peter takes the lead on this and approaches the college essay process the way he would a great story—by getting to know the person behind it.
He begins with a one-on-one conversation where he interviews the student, asking thoughtful questions to uncover their experiences, values, and voice. From there, they work together to map out which stories are best suited for the main personal statement and which belong in supplemental essays.
Once they’ve chosen a direction, they move into brainstorming, helping the student shape a topic that feels meaningful, honest, and strategic. Then comes the writing: the student drafts, and Peter provides detailed, actionable feedback every step of the way.
Through thoughtful revision and reflection, he helps students create well-organized, well-crafted essays that authentically represent who they are and what makes them stand out.

    8. How do you communicate with families?

We keep parents fully updated through shared documents and scheduled check-ins. You’ll always know what’s happening and what’s next.

    9. Do you limit the number of colleges or essays you help with?

The number of schools you apply to is entirely up to you and we’ll support you as much as you need.

    10. What is your policy on using AI for college essays?

We strongly encourage students to tell their own stories and avoid using AI-generated content. Our process ensures essays are genuine, personal, and aligned with college expectations.

    11. How do you protect student privacy and confidentiality?

We take privacy and confidentiality extremely seriously. All student information, essays, and communications are handled with strict discretion and stored securely. We never share your materials or personal details without explicit permission, and we use trusted, secure platforms for all collaboration.
